We understand how busy the life of a teenager can be, schedules that are over packed with exams, sports and social events.

For this reason we give our teens special consideration while booking appointments. We offer early morning 7:30 a.m. after school and school vacation days to our teen patients first.

We also understand that the last thing a teenager wants to worry about is their teeth. We view teenagers as growing young adults and pay attention to any of their concerns.

We touch upon topics such as smoking, vaping and juuling, drugs, alcohol and dietary habits. All conversations are conducted in an open, non-judgmental and educational way.

Opalescence Go is the professional alternative to in-office whitening options.

Available in Melon, Peach, and Mint flavors, it’s a good alternative for teenagers who want to do more than over the counter bleaching systems.

Zoom is another alternative to teeth whitening available for kids ages 16b and older. Zoom is an in-office procedure. Our doctors and hygienists are certified, which means we have taken an online test as well as had practical training under the direction of representatives. Each phase occurs in fifteen minute intervals (maximum treatment time one hour) giving us the option to stop at any phase in which the desired shade is achieved.

Icon is a dental service we provide to remove white spots or decalcification on a tooth’s smooth surfaces. Icon is a one appointment treatment. It is noninvasive and does not require anesthesia or drilling. It eliminates superficial white spots while returning a tooth to its natural color. The Icon treatment is of particular benefit for patients who have completed orthodontic treatment.

All doctors and hygienists in our practice support the use of athletic mouth guards for children who play sports.

Mouth guards protect not only a young athlete’s teeth but also their lips, cheeks and tongue as well. Athletes who wear mouth guards are also better protected against jaw injuries and concussions.

A child should wear a mouth guard whenever he is in an activity with risk of a fall or head contact with another player or sports equipment. Typically, sports, where a mouth guard is mandatory, such as hockey or football, are where we see less oral injuries. Nearly half of sports-related mouth injuries occur in basketball and baseball.

For children with mixed dentition (both primary and adult teeth), we recommend Mueller’s Muellerguard mouth guard which can be molded to fit your child’s teeth. For our athletes with full adult dentition, we recommend professionally made custom mouth guards available at our office.

At home, moldable mouth guards are also available at sporting goods stores. We strongly feel that any mouth guard is better than no mouth guard!

Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable, and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact tooth movements our office plans out for you. Wisdom teeth can lead to problems of there is not enough space for them to surface or if they come in the wrong position. However, everyone is unique and not everyone has to have their wisdom teeth removed.

We typically take a Panorex (wisdom tooth x-ray) for patients ages 15 to 18 to assess wisdom teeth and their positioning. Patients who experience pain, infection, or potential damage to a neighboring tooth are typically in need of removal.
